New Students

The role of the Peterhouse MCR’s First Year Representative is to welcome, support, and (of course) represent first year students.

The First Year Representative co-ordinates events for the ‘Freshers’ Week’ that begins the Michaelmas term. For 2018-19, this week runs from Saturday 29 September to Sunday 7 October and will provide a range of events and activities to help you settle in to college life, meet other new students and get to know Cambridge.

Freshers’ Week is a great opportunity to get stuck in to life at Peterhouse, and also includes the Matriculation event, the fantastic Cambridge tradition of your formal enrolment into the University. More details will be provided nearer the time by the Senior Tutor, Revd Dr Stephen Hampton. Matriculation 2018 will occur on Monday 1st October. Attendance is compulsory. It is recommended that new students move in by Sunday 30 September at the latest

You can find more information in our Freshers’ Handbook, The New Petrean.

If you have any problems, concerns or questions we encourage you to get in touch with our current First Year Representative, Alex Tsompanidis ( and the rest of our committee who are all happy to help. Please also feel free to contact Alex with information on your arrival dates and general queries about college life.

We would be very grateful if new students would complete our form to provide us with the relevant details to keep you up to date with Freshers’ Week, up-coming events and other useful information

Please also make use of the Peterhouse MCR Facebook Page for updates!
